Cabo Verde accedes to the 1980 and 1996 Hague Conventions

On 4 October 2022, the Republic of Cabo Verde deposited instruments of accession to the 1980 Hague Child Abduction Convention and to the 1996 Hague Child Protection Convention.

The Child Abduction Convention will enter into force there on 1 January 2023, whilst the Child Protection Convention will enter into force on 1 August 2023.

The status tables on the HCC website (1980 Hague Convention status table here, 1996 Hague Convention status table here) will show acceptances of / objections to Cabo Verde’s accession in due course.

As a consequence, there are now 102 Contracting Parties to the Abduction Convention, and 54 Contracting Parties to the Child Protection Convention.
